DIY Ideas
Nature is full of magical treasures that can be used or created at any time of year. Get a little inspiration here!
everlasting plant terrarium
This is my first jungle in a glass. The idea is, that you can close the glas garden and the plants are able to care for themselves with out having to be watered. The important thing to be noted is the drainage, where the water flows to. create your own drainage with a layer of gravel and a thin layer of sand so that the roots of your plants don't get moldy.
cauldron as a flower pot
I use diffrent kinds of cauldrons as flower pot to create a witchy vibe in my house.
Desert in a glass
Desert in a Glass. Plant a little garden with cactus and sukkulents in a glass, use special coconout soil or sukkulent soil for a long lasting garden. create your own drainage with a layer of gravel and a thin layer of sand so that the roots of your plants don't get moldy.
marbled paper: DIY with shaving foam
Last week, i created my very first own marbled paper. First i considered to buy special marble colours but the i found another cheaper way to do it: with shaving foam and food colours (the ones used for baking etc.).
1. you need: 1 pack of colours, 1 shaving foam tube, a serving platter made of pastic, ruler
2. spread the shaving foam the size of an A4 sheet of paper on the plastic serving plate. Smooth everything out and spread the paint in blobs over the shaving foam.
3. Draw a pattern with the paint in the shaving foam and place your paper (preferably watercolor paper) on the foam. Turn everything over so that the paper is on the bottom and the foam with the plastic serving tray is on top.
4.Take the ruler and smooth off the shaving foam on the paper so that the whole paper is exposed.
5. Here you can find fotos of how to do it.
DIY travel case for essential oils
A friend of mine showed me their travel case for essential oils which she bought on amazon. I figuered to try to do a DIY version of it, and it worked! I used an old pencil case and sewed in small pockets. It is really easy to do, and i sewed by hand. Btw it looks so nice but if you turn the pencil case inside out you'll see that its made by hand. I am very happy with my solution to storage my oils, since i move around a lot.
Chickweed oil extract
On a herb walk last week I learned that chickweed soothes the skin and can help against various skin rashes. This oil extract is great for soothing irritated skin. Here you'll find the recipe i worked with.
Linen Mist / Body spray
Linen Mist is used instead of fabric softener for a pleasant clothing fragrance. It is sprayed onto dry clothes or used as a body spray/perfume substitute.
DIY instructions:
150ml distilled water
6-8 drops of an essential oil
Vodka or witch hazel can also be used as an alternative to distilled water.
flower trumpet
Create a flower trumpet and mix in feathers (here: guinea fowl) and lantern flowers for a special touch!
Rose blossom facial toner
Rose blossom facial toner has an anti-inflammatory, soothing and cleansing effect. It is particularly suitable for acne and spots. The fragrant water lasts for 3-4 days and 4 weeks if 30-40 ml of ethyl alcohol is added.
DIY instructions:
60g rose petals
300ml water
-
Bring the water to the boil in a pan.
-
Place a third of the rose petals in a bowl and pour boiling water over them.
-
Cover and leave to infuse for an hour.
-
Pour the rose stock back into the pan through the sieve and bring to the boil again.
-
Pour another third of the rose petals into the bowl and pour the boiling rose stock over them.
-
Cover and leave to infuse for another hour.
-
Repeat the procedure with the last third of the rose petals.
Rose wreath
Rose petal wreath:
A round frame is created from boxwood branches and tied together with raffia thread. The rose petals are placed in the wreath together with autumn anemones. If you store the wreath in water, for example on a pond or in a tub, it will last longer.
DIY Parfum
The advantage of DIY perfume is that you know what's in it and you can choose your own scent. I used Swiss stone pine oil for this one.

1. heat up:
-
25 ml fragrance-neutral, skin-caring vegetable oil (preferably jojoba oil or almond oil)
-
then add 2-3 ml of a fragrance blend of essential oils, equivalent to approx. 50-75 drops
-
put it in a small glass jar for mixing (20ml) and put in the fridge.

feather wreath
Over the last few years I have found lots of feathers on my walks in the woods. I never knew what to make of them until I came up with the idea of a feather wreath in the mountains in Gran Canaria last year. The wreath is made of gorse.
magical shells
live shells:
You need some larger shells, these don't necessarily have to have a hole for the thread. I used an old fishing line as the thread and wrapped it around the shell. Air plants are suitable for this decoration as they hardly need any water. It is enough to spray them with water once a week.
recycled wax candles
I only used leftovers for these candles and decorated them with gypsophila and hydrangea petals at the end. Simply heat the wax and pour it in. However, attach the wick to the base with a layer of wax before pouring in the rest of the wax.
brigid cross
Gorse is not as easy to weave as straw, so I tied the ends together in the middle. This somewhat wilder form of the cross is particularly suitable as a garden ornament.
yule wreath
This is my favorite way to make a yule wreath. I find plastic decorations very impractical, as my Yule wreath is handed over to the fire on the day of the winter solstice. That's why I pay particular attention to natural decorations. I usually use everything I've collected over the summer so that my year is united in the wreath.
Decoration Idea January
In January, it is always worth using green plants and shrubs for decoration. Rowanberries stand out with their orange color and bring a bit of color into the house in the gray season.
glamorous Pumpkin decoration
Acrylic markers can be used to embellish many things in the fall season and make them look more elegant, like my chestnuts and the little pumpkin here.
Imbolc Altar in a jar
Imbolc is a festival of the year that is celebrated in February (more on this in my podcast). Each festival is associated with certain symbols and plants. Either you have an altar place at home or, if it has to be quick and practical, the whole thing fits into a jar.
headphone embroidery
I got this idea on Tenerife. I wanted to buy headphones like these but decided to make the band myself. Use embroidery thread and attach the string to the headphone cable at the beginning and end with superglue.
witches bell
Witches used to hang little bells over their doors to ward off evil spirits. I turned this bell into a kind of dream catcher made from a horseshoe.
aphrodite altar in a jar
Each deity has their own symbols, for Aphrodite these are shells, dove feathers and the colors pink, blue and white. Altars are used to honor goddesses and connect with their energy. Working with Aphrodite can bring you harmony, self-love, love, self-respect and appreciation.
dreamcatcher starfish
I found lots of shells and starfish on La Palma. I made this dreamcatcher as an offering to Aphrodite and hung it on the beach. According to Greek mythology, Aphrodite was born from the foam of the sea after Cronus emasculated Uranus and his genitals were thrown into the sea. Aphrodite emerged from the sea foam and was carried ashore by the waves.
There is a legend on La Palma that the south of the island represents the beauty of Aphrodite.
Welcome!
Nice that you enjoy my DIY ideas! A lot of them came about on my travels as I like to collect and process things. I'm very minimalist and often design exclusively from natural materials so that I can later hang my jewelry in nature as an offering to nature. Have fun browsing!
